Welcome to YOLK (which is not about eggs).
there is a certain feeling. it sneaks up on you. enveloping. warm, soft, a little melty. fully comfortable, held by the moment. it’s fleeting. it’s special. to feel completely at home. a taste that is familiar, or something that is brand new. a scent you don’t even realize coming through the air. a fresh tomato, a ripe peach, a soft seat, a bass line that makes you move. as my friend carl calls it “pure yum”. how can we create and linger in that feeling?
Well, then what is it?
this substack will be a journal of explorations. while it will be mostly food and recipes, it is more about the feeling of home. my world. feeding people, growing things, making things, building things, listening, being curious about things. whatever is going on in our geodesic dome. a place to write outside of the container of a book and share beyond a 30 second video.
why?
since not everyone can actually come to my home, i hope that this will be the next best thing. a seat at the table.

i hope to post twice a month. one post about something not related to food and one post with a menu. there will be a link to my monthly playlist. there might be some content by ben sinclair. free subscribers will get the gist of things- menus, updates, recommendations (and hopefully some discount codes), tips, peeks into things, stories. paid subscribers will get recipes for the menu, hopefully guest recipes, any additional recordings of sound explorations or meditations.
